Keepers of the Flame Scholarship August 2022: Jenna Lynne Roberts

Scholarship Recipient: Jenna Lynne Roberts

My business is called Present Path Tarot. I offer tarot readings that help direct people to navigate to their best life. I come from a place of compassionate insight with the goal of empowering others. My work includes live online courses and personal tutoring in reading the cards. I also provide intuition coaching to help clients deepen self-trust and access their own inner wisdom.

A teacher by trade and a writer by heart, my dream is to self-publish books that support my tarot course and help students to better access this ancient art. I have been working on a tarot study guidebook that I am 80,000 words into, along with a lighter Tarot Journal study tool that is nearing completion.

In order to become adept in the self-publishing industry, I intend to first publish the journal. This is an addendum of the main book and will give me a chance to have practice with a book release so I can make the best possible strategy for the greater guidebook to get the strongest results in sales and scope of reach. The funds from this scholarship will go toward the publishing of the journal.

I have a Lovers Card relationship with the Tarot, as I feel it continually pulls me in like a vortex. I received my first reading in New Orleans at 14 years old from a man named Jerrick. My dad helped me buy my first deck soon after. At 30 years old, I returned to New Orleans for other work that soon fell through. Synchronous signs kept pointing me to read cards for donations. I took the leap one Sunday evening, by chance choosing the very same spot that Jerrick would normally work from. I have been reading professionally for the past 15 years since then. First as a side job, and as my primary work for the last two years.

I love this art form. It allows me to bring magic into people’s lives. Through my gift as a psychic reader, I can show others that something mysterious cares enough to have a stranger recite their life’s most poignant messages back to them. I get to dive in deep with compassion and laughter to give querents a sense that they can make strong choices to engage more fully with the challenges and opportunities in life. My hope is this experience enlivens them to listen more closely to their own inner knowing.

I believe this work is an act of loving service that carries forth a tradition in a female-led field that goes back centuries. It has been mislabeled as a scary dark art and dismissed as a parlour trick. Even with heralds such as Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell hailing the value of the Tarot, it remains misunderstood. I want to be a part of the community of readers who show it has integrity and beauty. I want to help more curious explorers of archetypes to access their own relationship to divination and their own intuition. My book also has a strong chapter on ethics as a reader, as I know this is essential to the next phase of blossoming for this field.

I am an excellent candidate for this scholarship because I am someone who completes her goals.

I also know that the Tarot is a tool of empowerment for women and men to tap into listening to their internal wisdom. I have already produced over 70 YouTube’s with free lessons and readings and meditations to support those interested in the art. Paying it forward is something I naturally do in my passion to share this art with others.

I am grateful that I am able to lead the life of a creative entrepreneur, and it would give me a deeper sense of community support in my endeavors.

Thank you for offering this. It’s heartwarming to know that people are out there who want to add wind into the sails of female business owners.
