Announcing the JSG & Associates Keepers of the Flame Scholarship

It’s no secret that women earn less than men in the U.S. or that the wealth divide disproportionately impacts women of color. Funds for educational, professional or career development are hard to come by. We intend to change this with the Keepers of the Flame scholarship that provides financial assistance to women entrepreneurs.

The purpose of the Keepers of the Flame scholarship to memorialize female entrepreneurs by passing forward the flame, illuminating kindness while mobilizing generosity. Our seed money cultivates hope and affirms faith in our collective sisterhood.

Investing in women of color advances gender and racial equity. More than 23 percent of African American lived in poverty in 2015, more than double that of white women—and more than three times that of white men. The median wealth of a single White woman was $15,640 in 2015 compared to only $200 for a single African American woman and just $100 for a single Latina woman. About 50 percent of all African American and Latino households struggle to pay basic expenses. These social and economic injustices were worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than any other group, women of color have been disproportionality impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands lost jobs and there were increased demands for childcare, elder care or virtual school classrooms.

You are the spark required to ignite the flame. The Keepers of the Flame scholarship offers seed money for you to invest in your education or business goals. Your action sustains healthy homes and empowers communities. By applying for the scholarship opportunity and then sharing the opportunity with others in your sisterhood, you are igniting and passing forward the flame. Apply today. Your action will empower others.
