How Your Thoughts Affect Your Momentum

By Tiffany RuckerMBA

You’ve heard the saying, “you are what you eat,” right? And we understand that bad eating habits manifest into severe health conditions over time. Well, what do you think happens to you physically when you dine on a steady diet of negative thoughts?

Let’s take a deeper dive into the power of the mind.

Your brain controls every bodily function and has three main sections: the cerebrum, cerebellum and brain Stem. Each area controls different parts of your body and its functions.

The cerebrum, which is also the largest part of the brain, controls your thoughts. To put this into perspective, before you go from sitting to a standing position, you thought about standing without even realizing it. The same is true about your successes and fears; they all start with a thought.

Did you know that your thoughts may be the ONLY thing standing between you and your heart’s desires?

Whatever you fill your mind with, you will become. So here are a few ways to take back control of your thoughts:

        1. Eat better. Provide good, clean fuel for your body’s optimal performance.
        2. Get more sleep. Make it a habit to unplug and relax. Turn off the television and put your phone away to allow your mind time to relax.
        3. Get active. Putting your body into motion helps your brain perform better.
        4. Step outside and inhale fresh air.
        5. Practice positive self-talk. Tell yourself what you ARE as opposed to what you are not.

Now let’s dig into that last point a bit more: Knowing what you bring to the world is beneficial to your overall well-being; once you are clear about what you have to offer, you can begin to walk in your purpose and touch the lives of others.

If you’ve been moving through 2021 with feelings of uncertainty, here are some questions to ask yourself to help turn that positive self-talk (thoughts) into positive actions.

        1. What gift was I designed to share?
        2. What is my purpose?
        3. Why am I here on the planet?
        4. Who am I designed to inspire?

Asking these questions can help open you up to divine connections and revelations.

Until you’re serving your purpose, you’ll experience dissatisfaction with everything that you attempt to do. Take a moment today to define who you are so that you can build your momentum and make 2021 your best year yet.
