Keepers of the Flame Scholarship June 2022: Candy Martin

Candy Martin, Founder of the A.K. Legacy Foundation

This month, we are once again proud to name the recipient of the Keepers of the Flame Scholarship to Candy Martin. She is making strides as she created a foundation that provides professional development, financial literacy and disaster relief to people in Louisiana.

Candy is currently studying to receive her life and health insurance state license and will educate others on how to properly use and obtain insurance as a way to help others learn about financial literacy.

Candy says, “I learned later in life about finances and that lack of financial literacy caused me hardships; also knowing that women are currently earning, on an average, 80 cents to every dollar earned by men, I want to help do my part in eradicating both situations in my community.”

This scholarship will help Candy assist others and has a truly deep meaning as it is named in honor and loving memory of Angelique’ Katrice Frith, Candy’s first-born daughter who passed away. Her daughter’s name is also the meaning behind the foundation’s title and is a milestone in her legacy.

With this scholarship, Candy will continue to learn more, “I am currently doing the work to help others succeed and above all, I have the love in my heart to help others.”

“Through my foundation, either directly or through other partnerships, I will provide financial support, business education and/or disaster relief when needed.”

She is and has always been a loving and giving person of herself. Willing to help in any way she can, and if there’s anything you ask of her that she may not know, she’ll tell I’ll get back with you on this and come back with an answer or solution.
This is who you are and has always been.
You are well deserving of all the blessings God has in store for you.
So proud of you my Lil Baby.
