Empowering Yourself through Intention and Action

By Patricia Daly

When I retired in 2011, I wanted to fulfill a long-suppressed desire to nurture my spiritual development and love of writing that had been put on hold for decades.  I joined a writing group of friends and began sharing spiritual stories with them.

After they encouraged me to publish what I read to them weekly, I decided to self-publish because I did not want to go down the usually depressing road of obtaining an agent and a publisher. So, I read about self-publishing on Amazon and learned the necessary basics. My first book, The Women in His Life: What Jesus Saw in Them, was indie-published in 2014.

Although that was only seven years ago, it still was one of the early years of the indie-publishing tsunami. The following year I published a short story on Amazon but had no plans for future books or publishing. I did little to market the book or myself.

Several years later, I became immersed in the writing of New Thought authors of the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries.  Their writing explores the mind-body connection and the way thought can impact everything we experience in life—and, through desire and intention, the lives of those around us. I began to notice where their ideas overlapped, particularly when it came to methods of intercession and healing. I love everything having to do with healing and wanted to learn what they did in their practices.

Through the years of my study, I recognized a pattern among New Thought writers when they described what they did in intention and action in response to others’ requests for intersession or treatment. I very slowly collected the divergent methods of many authors into my own progressive steps. And I felt, again, the need to write and publish a book.

My new work teaches a purpose-driven process that can enrich your life as you help others heal and grow. Within the next few months, I will indie-publish that process in The Deliberate Thinker:  A 12-Lesson Method to Empower Your Mind and Influence Your World.

Writing that out in the few sentences above may make the journey seem simplistic. But I am committed to doing the hard work required of an indie-published author. Even though the pre-publishing to-do list is endless, I embrace the challenge as a calling. I am a believer in the power of the Universe to provide what is needed to get the job done, as long as we are willing to trust that the people and tools we need will be there when we need them. And if my book helps even one person to use the energy of intention to help, bless or heal another, then it will have been totally worth it!

I want The Deliberate Thinker to enable every reader to experience an ‘A-HA!’ moment of personal empowerment. My intention is that you will learn how to carry within yourself the ability to direct your intentional thinking for the very best results in the lives of those you love and for any situation.

Here’s another intention for you: No matter how long it takes you to be able to pursue what you love, you won’t let yourself believe it will never happen. I am now in my 70s, but I don’t think of my age as an impediment or a drawback to my indie-publishing goals. You’re never too old to find a way to fulfill your dreams. Even if you cannot do right now what you feel called to, you still can prepare for your future fulfillment through visualization, intention and planning. Your day will come!
