Region IV Mental Health Services Wins Grant to Revolutionize Community Behavioral Health

Comprehensive Initiative Expands Access to Care

Region IV Mental Health Services has received a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), to implement a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) under the project name CCBHC-PDI. The CCBHC-PDI grant will transform community behavioral health systems in Region IV, focusing on expanding access to quality care in five rural and medically underserved counties: Alcorn, Desoto, Tippah, Tishomingo and Prentiss. The CCBHC model will break down barriers to care, especially among rural and underserved populations during the four-year project period.

“It is a privilege to be a part of this transformative effort to provide comprehensive and person-centered care to all individuals across the lifespan who require behavioral health services,” says Jackie Sue Griffin of Jackie Sue Griffin & Associates, the grant writer for the award.

The CCBHC-PDI project will serve 600 individuals across all stages of life who are in need of behavioral health services during the four-year project period. This includes individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), those with Substance Use Disorders (SUD), including opioid use disorders, children and youth with Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED), and members of the armed forces, veterans, and their families.

Region IV Mental Health Services will use multi-faceted approach that is trauma-informed and culturally competent approach to expand access to a comprehensive range of outreach, treatment, and recovery supports coupled with evidence-based high-quality treatment; expanded crisis response and improved integrated primary and behavioral health outcomes.
