Thankful For HER: Kytana Phillips

Thankful For HER: Kytana Phillips

It’s November, and we’re celebrating National Gratitude Month! Gratitude can bring a whole new meaning to life, and it’s even been shown that people who practice gratitude every day are not only happier but also healthier!  We’re embracing the spirit of gratitude at HERstory by showcasing women who we’re thankful for all month long! Meet Kytana Phillips, the founder of the nonprofit, Clifford Heart Foundation, serving Miami-Dade and Broward counties in South Florida.

Kytana is a leader in the community who inspires us with the work she does to help others in need. She has always been giving back to the community since her childhood, and that was much of the inspiration behind creating a nonprofit, which aims to combat unsheltered homelessness through compassion and action. She says, “Growing up, my grandfather always motivated me to embrace my empathy and desire to help others. Today, I honor his legacy through my nonprofit, The Clifford Heart Foundation.”

“CHF was started as a tribute to my late grandfather, Frank Clifford, a man after God’s Heart. He was passionate about fighting injustices, helping those in need, and leading heart first. Since I too share his heart, I have enlisted the help of others to impact the world in positive ways, just as much as he did.”

The CHF has hosted eight events and distributed 600 clothing items, 1,420 home cooked meals, 1,656 snack items, 1,860 bottled water, and 15,709 essential items. Kytana is now working hard to purchase a warehouse space to create a drop-in center. A place where the unhoused can come and get food, clothes, resources, and essentials. A place where they can relax for a while and get some needed help.

Kytana does this work alongside her family. Her father, being a chef, cooks home-made meals to deliver. Her family and volunteers work hard to make a difference. Kytana is doing this all while having a full-time job outside of the CHF as well.

We are inspired and grateful for her work to combat homelessness with love, kindness, understanding and action. She’s raised thousands of dollars for her cause and distributed more than 20 thousand food donations and supplies to serve the homeless community. We appreciate all that you do for the community, Kytana!

We are so #ThankfulForHer! We love highlighting women like Kytana who are doing great things in the community.
