HERstory: Shaun Robinson

HERstory: Shaun Robinson

This month we’re highlighting women who embody the power of positivity! Meet Shaun Robinson, who spreads positivity throughout the community with her work as an Emmy Award-winning journalist, television personality, author, producer, philanthropist, girl’s empowerment activist and founder of the nonprofit S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls!

“When I was about 6 or 7 years old, I used to come home from school, and I would watch my cartoons, and after the cartoons were over, and the 6 o’clock news came on, I remember there was an African American woman by the name of Beverly Payne, she anchored the 6 o’clock news in Detroit Michigan. I was mesmerized by her because she was the only person on TV that looked like me. She was my first career role model and the person who set me on a path to becoming a journalist.” Shaun states in a video on her website.

Throughout Shaun’s career, she’s spread positivity to many on their TV screens through her work as co-host of the entertainment news show, Access Hollywood, interviewing Hollywood’s entertainers and covering the red carpets and hosting the official pre-shows for the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Emmy’s and Grammy’s, in addition to hosting NBC’s coverage of the annual Tournament of Roses Parade. All while prioritizing her goal of being a positive role model and creating her own nonprofit to help empower girls and young women.

“I always tell young girls that if you want to get into public speaking if you want public speaking to be a career choice for you. You’re going to have to be able to speak to a large number of people, so the way you carry yourself, your diction, your grammar, and the way you resonate with people will make a big difference.” Shaun shares this in a video on her website.
