MAKING A DIFFERENCE ONE SHIRT AT A TIME
In a world filled with uncertainty, division, and disconnection, it’s easy to feel powerless and overwhelmed. But Julie Tingley, the founder of Wee Macree, chose a different path. She saw an opportunity to make a positive difference in the world – one small act at a time.
Prior to starting Wee Macree, Julie worked in medical sales for 15 years. After having her two children, she decided to take a break from her career. With her daughters by her side, Julie grew a network of women in Tampa Bay, Florida when she realized kids across the nation were struggling from loss of connection and sense of purpose after the shutdowns in 2020.
With a heart full of compassion and a vision of empowerment, Julie created Wee Macree, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit giveback collective that supports and raises awareness for other nonprofit missions that support children. She wanted to create something that would not only help children in need but would also nurture empathy and purpose in young hearts.
Julie’s mission is simple but powerful: to build a community of helpers who can safeguard the well-being of children everywhere. And through Wee Macree, she has done just that. Her graphic T-shirts are more than just stylish clothing – they are a symbol of hope, compassion, and solidarity. Each shirt represents a campaign for kids to have the opportunity to help other kids in need, and each one comes with a story of the nonprofit partner and child Wee Macree is helping.
From at-risk kids in Seminole Heights, Florida to disabled children who need a canine companion, from children struggling with hunger and homelessness to those facing prematurity, chronic illness, education, and gun violence – Wee Macree covers it all. And the shirts are not just for show – they are designed to fit kids ages 3 to 11, to help them understand the issues that impact kids their own age and to make them feel purposeful as they learn about the world around them and what they can do to make a difference.
But Wee Macree is more than just T-shirts. Julie also hosts immersive nonprofit events so that kids can have fun doing good, and she regularly volunteers her time to local charities. Her dedication and commitment have inspired countless others to get involved and make a positive difference in their own communities.
Through Wee Macree, Julie honors the heart in each of us, seeks friendship in one another, and strives to show that kids caring for kids is the way forward. In a time when the world needs hope and inspiration more than ever, Julie and Wee Macree are shining a light of compassion and empathy that will guide us towards a brighter future for all.
