HERStory: Allison Godlove

Allison Godlove’s incredible journey is a testament to the power of taking risks, following your instincts, and embracing change. Her determination and passion for pursuing her dreams led her from her beginnings in Buffalo, NY to a successful career as a TV News Anchor.

One of the defining moments of Allison’s career was her coverage of the Sago Mine Disaster, a powerful example of the vital role of journalism in uncovering stories that matter. But perhaps even more remarkable was her commitment to helping change Florida laws to provide cancer coverage for firefighters, a testament to her deep empathy and desire to make a difference in people’s lives.

She has also spent time mentoring other women in news or those aspiring to be in the industry, just like many of the women she was inspired by. “When I started in Tampa, the morning anchor was taking time off to get married and still took the time to have a phone call with me to welcome me and answer any questions,” said Godlove. “I always want to make people feel comfortable and welcome when they’re around me. I can’t say what impact I’ve had on women, but I hope they feel I’m kind and supportive.”

It was her gut that told her it was time to leave the news industry. With the end of her contract coming up, she faced a decision: Stay in the industry where she was burnt out or take a leap of faith and see what else is out there. It took some soul-searching and conversations with friends and family, but she decided to make the change she so desperately needed.

As she faces the challenges of freelancing and adapting to a new lifestyle, Allison’s story serves as a powerful reminder that true growth and opportunity come from stepping outside our comfort zones and taking bold action towards our goals.

Ultimately, Allison’s journey is a beacon of hope and inspiration for anyone seeking to achieve their dreams. With hard work, determination, and a willingness to take chances, we can all follow in her footsteps and realize our fullest potential. So let us be inspired by Allison’s example and embrace the courage and conviction to pursue our passions, no matter where they may lead.

Like all of us, her journey isn’t over. She continues to find new opportunities to showcase her strengths and find new successes in life.
