HERstory: Vickie Allen

HERstory: Vickie Allen

We are celebrating this month by highlighting women who bring the community joy and show us the power of positivity as a part of our HERStory January series. Meet Vickie Allen, the President and CEO of Educational First Steps

“Our mission is to create and support high-quality learning environments that ignite children’s minds,” Allen exclaims in a video on Educational First Steps Facebook page.

Originally from Syracuse, New York, Allen received her bachelor’s degree in business and sociology from Ithaca College, and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University. Her career started with sales for Fortune 500 companies. However, she began using those skills in the nonprofit industry when she volunteered and served on boards for various nonprofits and made a difference in the lives of many! Allen also led the Jeremiah Program, a nationally recognized nonprofit focused on eliminating generational poverty through education and employment. In addition, she led fundraising efforts, built relationships with philanthropic leaders, and secured the organization financially.

With Allen’s leadership, Educational First Steps has continued to grow and has partnerships that help with its mission of supporting high-quality early learning environments that ignite children’s minds. “We had a FANTASTIC 2022 at Educational First Steps! So many great partnerships and relationships. I can’t wait to bring you along on our 2023 journey!” Vickie shares on LinkedIn.

We love seeing women like Vickie making an impact and spreading joy to children in the community. “We support teachers and staff, those who are charged with the critical education of young minds,” Allen says.

Thank you, Vickie, for all you do for the community and for spreading positivity to the world.
